This is the main street in the fair. In case you're wondering, everyone's heading for the BBQ stand.
There's nothing quite like carnival food to draw a crowd. 
The fair had quite a number of educational exhibits.
I was surprised to learn that guava originated in the Americas.

or want to throw up.
The San Diego Union Tribune's chronological display included funky old printing presses and amazing photographs.

The rides seem to get stranger and stranger every year.
The SD County Fair is held on the grounds of the Del Mar Racetrack every year, a couple of months before horse racing season starts. Strange to see the stands empty. 
The heavily trafficked kiddie area is so colorful!

Catch a four-eyed frog and get a prize. 
One of the more publicized stands... I tried the deep fried twinkies last year. I'm not going to tell you how it tasted.
This year's speciality, deep fried avocado, was a little bland by itself, but scrumptious with the pesto sauce!
