Huntington Gardens

The tastefully clad sculpture models are a big hit at Huntington Gardens.

The Childrens' Greenhouse... for southern California children eager to experience humidity.

pretty...

The Boone Gallery... one of the many inviting art galleries on the grounds.

A goddess will shoot you if you don't like art.

There are 120 acres of botanical gardens at Huntington.
And more than 120 bees.

The Japanese Garden is a great place to see every tourist in Los Angeles at the same time.

Ah so peaceful...

Can't think of a better place to relax with a good book.

Funky mix of desert and tropical.

Ficus maybe? I love these roots.

Someone spilled the barrel cactus seeds 30 years ago.

Who would have thought that desert flowers could be so vibrant!

After my visit to Huntington Gardens, I did a short jaunt up Route 39 into the mountains. This is one of two reservoirs along the canyon drive, the San Gabriel Reservoir.

The Morris Reservoir Dam... complete with the year's best water slide attraction. ;)

The views along Route 39 are serene and uncluttered. A great escape from the bustle of LA.
