July's Photos

Hi guys,

Here are my July pics. Sorry for the delay. Enjoy!

Coronado Photography

Spent an evening after work with Mikael and Phil taking pics around Coronado. Did some wild experiments with white balance... it's surprising what you can produce with a little fiddling just after sunset. Some, um, not so good, but others fantastic! It was wonderful seeing Mikael during his visit back to the US.... look forward to his next return back to see us.

Downtown Fireworks
Harbor Island the next day was a central location for fireworks over the San Diego Bay. They were going up all around us, it was crazy deciding which set to focus on!

Del Mar Fair
This year's fair was fun as usual. I was surprised to find out about all the photography sessions. Did a little selective shooting with my wide-angle lens to see what I'd be able to produce.

2008 U.S. Open Sand Castle Competition

Went to the U.S. Open Sand Castle Competition in Imperial Beach again this year, and was not disappointed. The creations inspired quite a bit of imagination and some were huge!

Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge

Afterwards, we checked out the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge in Imperial Beach. I was surprised at how robust the grasses were, and how well they set against the meandering streams throughout the refuge.

La Jolla
Did a photo shoot with Sierra Club in La Jolla. I was surprised at much the landscape of the rocky shoreline along the southern end of La Jolla resembed more what you would see in Northern California or on the East Coast.

Dos Picos County Park
Last photo shoot for the month was at Dos Picos County Park, just west of Ramona. Didn't know they frogs there... there were thousands, what a riot! They were so cute, I just couldn't stop shooting them.
