March and April Activities

Hi guys!

Sorry I've been lax in posting. I've been testing out a bunch of new websites, and am thinking of switching over to Picasa.

Wildflowers
The great rains we had this year made southern California a banner year for wildflowers! I spent a part of March wildflower hunting, with great success.

Joshua Tree National Park
I also ventured further north to Joshua Tree National Park and was not disappointed! Just about every Joshua Tree was in bloom in the northern area of the park, and there were wildflowers galore in the southern area of the park. Also took advantage of the great rock formations to try star trail night photography.

Salvation Mountain
Took a trip with the Sierra Club Photo Section to Niland and the Salton Sea to check out Salvation Mountain, a man-made tribute to God. While we were there, we also visited Slab City, the RV capital of the world. Afterwards, we toured the coastal ghost town of Bombay Beach, and capped off the evening watching the gurgling mud pots south of Niland.

Kayaking the San Diego Bay
Went kayaking along the northern San Diego Bay with Ann. It was so peaceful coming down the channel from MCRD - highly recommended!

Carlsbad 5K
As part of my triathalon training, I decided to run the Carlsbad 5K. What a great time! It was an easy run (minimal hills) and was fun to be running in a pack with everyone else.

Navy Moto X World Championships
I have to admit, there's something fun about extreme sports photography. Phil and I took a trip to Qualcomm Stadium to try to capture the motorcycle tricks and racing at the Moto X World Championships, and were amazed at the skill (and insanity) of the riders.

  1. Delphine,

With that look of determination and pain etched on your countenance, I will assume that you broke the 5K work record, yes?
