San Diego Zoo and Heritage Park

Here are the results of my photo(safari) excursion to the San Diego Zoo. It was tough catching the animals in their native habitats. Ha ha.

This what a camel looks like when he's getting ready to slap a wet one on you.

Ever see a polar bear orgasm? Me neither.

I discovered that orangutans are not so smiley after you make them pose for 30 minutes.

For those of you fellow photogeeks who may be wondering, the photos on this page were taken using a DX Nikkor 18-200mm w/VR. The VR isn't bad... I took all the shots handheld with the lens extended out to full telephoto range.

Got hay?

Couldn't help jumping at a chance to get this guy. I saw flocks of spoonbills like him in a preserve in Taiwan 7 years ago and was bummed I couldn't get a good shot.

Gao gao, the redneck panda bear. Reproduces like a redneck too I hear...

See... there are other vegetarians at the top of the food chain.

You know you're in trouble when you get this look.

This guy had crowds upon crowds of people clamoring to get shots.

"I wonder who stole my banana..."

Baby hippos are cool.

Animal porn, sensored courtesy of the SD Zoo.

What are they doing?!??!

After I was done at the zoo, I took a quick trip to Heritage Park before heading home. I was impressed at how decorative the restored Victorian homes were! This is the Temple Beth Isreal.

Sherman-Gilbert House... Not as colorful as the the pic in the Photosecrets SD book, but still really cool.

Christian House, now a bed and breakfast with cute Christmas decorations.
