After the Harris Wildfire

Ray and I did a drive through the Otay Lakes area to check out the remains after the Harris Wildfires. We were surprised at how the area looked; it has a desolate, sad beauty.

I think when people imagine devastating wildfires, they picture huge acreages of land completed razed. In actuality, fire picks and chooses where it's going to go, as seen in this pic.

I like the contrast between white ash, charred broken wood, and fall leaves still left on the trees.

The fires apparently didn't hinder the paragliding industry in the area. Planes were dropping jumpers all over the area during our drive through.

We were treated to these incredible colors on our way home.
