North of Seattle - Ft Vernon, La Conner, Anacoste, Mt Erie, and Deception Pass

My northern excursion started at the charming Whispering Firs B&B. The incredible hospitality, scrumptious breakfasts, and friendliness of the owners Linda and Vic made my trip so much more special.

Vic took me to this outstanding, and unpublished mountaintop view of the Skagit farming valley with the San Juan Islands far in the distance.

Got milk?
(that's Mount Erie in the distance, btw)

Got vegetarians?

The quirky and quaint town of La Conner was visually interesting... a photographer's joy.

Any idea how much Life Magazine cost in 1930?

Calico Cupboard is famous throughout the area for its homemade baked goods. For me, it was the butter... absolutely to die for.

Anacortes is not only famous for being a jumping point to the San Juan Islands.

Mount Erie has the best sunset photo opportunities of the islands of Puget Sound for miles around.

Another dreamy island sunset...

This is my favorite photo of the trip. Ironic how I actually only took it as an afterthought.

Deception Pass, Washington's most popular state park, is a unique blend of forest and coast... and tourists.

Artwork in the forest... can you make out the simulated tree textures?

Deception Pass Bridge is heavier than it looks .

View from the bridge.

The lush forest, combined with the crashing ocean surf was rejuvenating!

If only the San Diego coast looked like this. =)

I love ferns.

Another view from the Deception Pass Bridge.

Whidbey Island supports the historic and secluded Coupeville.
