First Landing State Park and Vicky

Since my hotel wouldn't allow early check-in, I took a drive over to First Landing State Park on a whim. Who would have thought that Virginia supports such a dense and lush swamp!

Cypress trees are cool.

The crystaline marshes support a psychedelic green carpet of algae.

Hard to believe that just across the street, First Landing State Park turns from mucky swamp to dry sandy beach.

The best thing about visiting Norfolk was late night chats with my college bud Vicky.
